In 2012, she completed a 2 year post-graduate, clinical mentorship based in the Five Element tradition of Chinese medicine with Lonny Jarrett, LAc in Stockbridge, MA. As a Five Element practitioner, Kathleen observes an individual’s specific element type through the external expression of their inner state, addressing physical, emotional & spiritual imbalances.
Kathleen completed training with Robin Green, LAc in Pediatric Acupuncture and is certified in the Treatment of Autism & Attention Disorders, that incorporates both Western & Chinese medical perspectives, research & education in supporting parents & their children in the diagnosis & successful treatment of these conditions.
Since 2013, Kathleen has gained additional training & clinical experience in fertility & women’s reproductive health working closely with gynecologists and reproductive endocrinologists in Illinois, treating women’s health conditions which includes infertility, pre-menstrual syndrome, endometriosis, polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS), irregular/painful menstrual cycles, menopause-related symptoms, pregnancy, and postpartum.
In addition, Kathleen has extensive training in Aroma Acupoint Therapy with Peter Holmes, LAc that incorporates the use of essential oils on specific Acupuncture points/zones, catalyzing shifts in consciousness & mood. She has discovered in practice, that by incorporating both modalities into patient treatment protocols, that the results have been highly successful in treating trauma, pain & emotional imbalances.
Kathleen was first introduced to Acupuncture & Chinese medicine in 2002, while working as an HIV Case Manager in Chicago. Through a program offered by a local Chinese medicine school to treat individuals living with HIV & AIDS, she witnessed the profound, transformative impact that Acupuncture had on her clients’ quality of life, health & emotional well-being. When anxiety, insomnia & vertigo started to affect her job performance & daily life, she decided to give Acupuncture a try. Within a few months of weekly treatments, Kathleen ceased having panic attacks, sleep improved & was better able to manage stress. At that time, she learned from her Acupuncturist that all were inter-related. She received specific tools & resources to be utilized outside of the treatment room, in which to manage these conditions. As a result, Kathleen became inspired to learn more about Chinese medicine & ultimately, base her career path on helping others experience their own freedom from physical & emotional imbalance.
