Frequently Asked Questions

Is acupuncture safe?

Acupuncture is extremely safe when performed by a competent practitioner.  Acupuncturists are required to use disposable needles that are discarded after one use.

Acupuncture can treat many conditions including, but not limited to:

Infertility, side effects due to cancer treatments, digestive disorders, anxiety, fatigue, chronic pain, insomnia, weak immunity, PMS, menstrual cramps, menopausal symptoms, allergies, additions and stress.

During your first acupuncture session, you’ll have an initial consultation to discuss your health concerns. Your acupuncturist will perform a brief physical exam, followed by the treatment, where fine needles are placed in specific points to promote healing. The session lasts about 20-30 minutes, and most people find it relaxing. Afterward, you may feel calm or energized, and follow-up treatments may be recommended.

No, acupuncture should not hurt.  A momentary prick of often felt around the needles as it is inserted, eventually creating a cull pressure or tingling around the area during the treatment.  Most people are amazed by how relaxed they feel during and after the acupuncture treatment.  This will only occur if the treatment is comfortable and gentle.

The number of treatments is unique to the individual. For most chronic conditions 5-7 treatments on a weekly basis can sometimes offer the best outcome. Some individuals notice an immediate improvement in their health and mood, while other individuals, acupuncture tends to have a cumulative effect over several visits.
