Alex is a nationally board-certified (NCCAOM) and State of Michigan registered acupuncturist. Considering the why’s of the world in his early teens, he discovered truth in the book the Tao of Pooh found in his grandparent’s library in rural Texas. He struggled to relate to mainstream religion and the idea of balance being a steady force in the way of the universe from a molecular level to a personal level, and even broader among teams, communities, and nations served as an awakening. From then on Alex considered himself a Taoist, studying the classic texts, practicing it (but not too hard or that wouldn’t be very Taoist) and striving to live in accordance with the Tao
Several years later his father introduced Alex to his acupuncturist and friend Anne Biris. He began receiving treatments in his early 20’s during the roller coaster of undergraduate life at The University of Michigan. Anne’s treatments were a grounding force for his body and mind.
After attaining a degree in film and entrepreneurship, Alex adventured through different industries including startups, arts, music, and education before landing in Anne’s office as an assistant and marketing manager. He noticed the magic in Anne’s office emanating from the patients as they were routinely guided by her healing methods towards a life of health and wellness. Alex decided to start learning more about the medicine and soon realized it was based in the very philosophy he had fallen in love within his grandparent’s library a decade earlier.
The decision to pursue traditional Chinese medicine seemed fated and inevitable. Although Alex’s educational background to this point wasn’t based in medicine or the sciences, as a committed lifetime learner, he challenged himself to dive in, led by his belief in the Tao. He attended the highly regarded Pacific College of Health & Sciences in Chicago and graduated with a Masters in Acupuncture. He treated hundreds of patients through the school’s clinic and through an internship at the Jesse Brown VA Medical Center under the guidance of Ryan Ruiz.
His special interests include treating psycho-emotional, digestive and reproductive health as well as pain management and sports-related injuries (as he has had many). Alex utilizes a combination of modalities to maximize results in each session including needling, cupping, gua sha, tui na (Chinese massage), E-stim and moxibustion. His empathetic and caring nature guide his treatment style. He is dedicated to improving the quality of life and bringing harmony into the life of every patient that walks through his door.

Testimonials
I loved how thorough Alex’s intake process was and personalized. Compared to other acupuncturists he asked more questions and made me feel very comfortable. His procedures were super helpful for my shoulder pain. The cupping was very helpful too. I didn’t experience any discomfort and it was very relaxing. He is very careful, considerate, professional, thorough and caring.

I sought out acupuncture with Alex after Western medicine failed to provide relief for my Raynaud’s syndrome, and within my very first session I experienced two full days without symptoms—a true miracle! Each treatment continued to bring me more relief, and I now plan to incorporate acupuncture into my care every winter. Alex was not only professional and knowledgeable but also took the time to educate me, meeting me at my level as a healthcare provider and making the experience both effective and empowering.
